Expertise and Clinical Care
Dr. Arthur Wu holds the rank of full Professor of Otolaryngology and previously served as Director of the Cedars-Sinai Sinus Center before transitioning to private practice in 2026.
He provides comprehensive care for a wide range of ear, nose, and throat conditions, with expertise in sinus, nasal, allergy-related, Eustachian tube, and skull base disorders. His approach combines advanced specialty training, academic leadership, and a personal understanding of how ENT conditions can affect quality of life. As a sinus patient himself, he brings empathy and insight to the care of patients struggling with chronic congestion, sinus pressure, mucus, smell loss, and breathing problems.
Dr. Wu has a particular passion for treating chronic sinusitis and nasal polyps, conditions that often require thoughtful, individualized medical and surgical care. He offers expertise in advanced therapies including cutting-edge medical treatments, revision sinus surgery, frontal sinus surgery, and complex endoscopic sinus procedures. He is frequently requested by other ENT physicians to assist with challenging revision sinus and frontal sinus cases.
He is a fellow of the American Rhinologic Society and his expertise includes the full spectrum of rhinology, including disorders of the nose, sinuses, and skull base. He treats benign and cancerous tumors of the sinuses and skull base and collaborates closely with neurosurgeons, oncologists, and other specialists to provide coordinated, comprehensive care.
Dr. Wu also has special expertise in endoscopic eye-related procedures, including tear duct surgery, orbital decompression for Graves’ disease, and endoscopic orbital tumor surgery. He received advanced training at the Massachusetts Eye and Ear Infirmary, one of the birthplaces of endoscopic eye surgery. In addition, he has a clinical interest in Eustachian tube dysfunction and was among the first surgeons on the West Coast to perform Eustachian tube dilation.
Leadership, Research, and Education
Dr. Wu remains deeply committed to academic medicine and to advancing the field of otolaryngology. He teaches ENT physicians across the United States and internationally through conferences, lectureships, and professional society work.
He is the Editor-in-Chief of Annals of Otology, Rhinology, & Laryngology, the oldest American otolaryngology journal, and serves on the editorial boards of several other prominent otolaryngology journals.
His research focuses on chronic sinusitis, including the impact of race, ethnicity, environmental factors, and emerging therapies on sinus disease. He has published more than 100 peer-reviewed scientific manuscripts and book chapters and is principal investigator for multiple clinical trials. He currently serves on the Board of Directors of the
American Rhinologic Society, the leading national and international professional society for sinus specialists, and serves as its Newsletter Chair. His academic work is rooted in a commitment to excellent, compassionate patient care while helping move the science of ENT forward for future patients.
Education and Training
Dr. Wu earned his bachelor’s degree in Biology with Honors and Distinction from Stanford University and his medical degree from Duke University School of Medicine. He completed residency in Otolaryngology-Head & Neck Surgery at the University of California, Los Angeles, followed by fellowship training in Rhinology-Endoscopic Sinus Surgery & Skull Base Surgery at Harvard.
